Description |
Ta'giuqtigapta Tuapaktusu'gmi Immersion Camp: Iñupiaq Land Use Values and Resources Video: 43 seconds, MPG-1 format. With Paul's Boat fixed, the three boats head back to Barrow. The boats made very good time following the ice edge until it became clear that the winds were blowing the ice onshore. Unseen in the video, as the boats got closer to Barrow the boats had to maneuver this way and that, going through a maze of ice floes to try and reach Barrow. Making way soon became impossible and the boat captains parked the boats at Hollywood, named because that's where filmmakers had filmed the giant snow bear movie. From there, the campers walked 3 miles until they could reach the road and were met by friends with trucks. The captains stayed with their boats until they could get them off the beach a couple days later and then move the rest of the campers from Tuapaktusuk. |
