[Tues. May 13, 1902] Strong north wind blowing & ice pack breaking away- Dinner with Judge & Mrs Crane. Mail from upriver - from Edgar & Heilig - Judge Noyes removed by Pres. Roosevelt on Feb. 25. Nothing official about myself yet. [Wednesday 14] Ice pack gone out - great stretches of water - rumor of boats! General break up in sight. The ice solid along shore, though, two or three miles wide. It will not go for some time yet.
