We are now in Lake LeBarge - the bed
of extinct glacier - & will reach Whitehorse
this evening about 5 or 6 oclock.
Perry has not mentioned the removal
of Edgar - but he and Mrs. P act
distant - I am very much surprised
at his action and cannot understand
why he did it - just at the moment when
my enemies are all trying their hardest
to prevent my reappointment. I
had trusted him fully - and was constantly
assured by him of his friendship and
support - I am now afraid that he is
working underground - maybe not!
