Description	Text: In the foreground… totem carved by the S. E. Alaska Indians of WILLIAM HENRY SEWARD "sitting on his suitcase"… (extreme right). Original Lincoln to[t]em at the left. Note he Has his hand extended "holding the emancipation Proclamation freeing the slaves." The Indians At that time were many in slavery here in Alaska and hailed Lincoln as the big white Chief to free the slaves.
