The powerful Husky Dog, with his great en-
durance, has been celebrated in song and story,
and is still used as a method of winter transpor-
tation in the Interior and Arctic sections of
Alaska, although his place is rapidly being taken
by the airplane, automobile and train. However,
Alaska's winter dog sled races attract nation-
wide attention, and in Fairbanks you are likely
to be lulled to sleep by a malamute chorus.
EUSTACE PAUL ZIEGLER, whose distinctive dry point etchings
are reproduced on this series of Alaska Line menus, lived and
worked for more than sixteen years among the colorful pioneers,
native Indians and incredible beauty of Alaska. Mr. Ziegler
is widely recognized for his murals and paintings of Alaska
which are hanging today in all parts of the world.

Complete sets and envelopes for mailing are available from the Steward.
These dry point etchings are especially attractive when framed, and the
above description should be pasted in the back for lasting reference.
Let's talk about the weather,
remembering that, as Alaska
covers one-fifth the area of the
United States proper, it has
almost as many variations in cli-
mate. Of course, it rains some-
times ... a refreshing summer
rain that you'll welcome after the
dry heat you've left behind. Inci-
dentally, you won't see a single
ice igloo in Alaska! But you will
need your sunglasses.
