describes
her
journey
to and
life
in
Dawson
in the
Yukon
Territory
and
Nome
,
Alaska
.
Myrtle
recounts
how she
traveled
from
Los
Angeles
,
California
to
Skagway
by
boat
in
January
1900
and then on to
Dawson
by
foot
. In
July
1900
, she
left
Dawson
and
traveled
by
boat
on the
Yukon
River
and the
Bering
Sea
to
St
.
Michael
and then to
Nome
,
where
she
worked
as as a
cook
,
house
cleaner
,
laundress
, and
seamstress
. The
diary
ends
in
December
1900
but also
includes
some
notes
made
by
Myrtle
about
1901
, as
well
as
photocopies
of
photographs
and
pages
from
Myrtle's
almanac
. In
1903
,
Myrtle
married
William
John
Bunger
, a
mail
carrier
in
Nome
, and
later
had
two
children
,
Julia
Willma
Weber
