Title by cataloguer . This is a close-up shot of a seal . A group of them can be seen in the background . Cataloguer's note : There are 18 seal species in the world . The largest seal , the elephant seal can weigh as much as 5,000 pounds , and the smallest weighs as little as 110 pounds . Seals use their rear flippers to walk on land or ice and appear awkward when walking . The ringed bearded , harp , hooded , the spotted and ribbon seals all live in the Arctic Circle .
