Description	Title taken from caption . " Building the annual Bonfire in September 1928 at the Alaska University. Cataloguer's note: The Annual (freshman) bonfire was evidently an elaborate and momentous affair; as seen by the amount of work that went into building it. Measuring 50 - 60 feet high, the bonfire was built for the purpose of commemorating the beginning of a new year and the passing of the "torch of Knowledge" to the freshmen class. The lighting of the Bonfire continues on today as a UAF tradition.
