the
first
successful
ascent
of
both
peaks
of
Mount
McKinley
in
1932
. The
Lindley-Liek
Expedition
found
this
empty
camp
,
belonging
to
Theodore
Koven
and
Allen
Carpe
of the
Cosmic
Ray
Expedition
, on their
descent
down
the
mountain
. The
body
of
Theodore
Koven
was
found
frozen
in the
snow
nearby
.
It
was
presumed
that
Carpe
fell
down
a
crevasse
on
Muldrow
Glacier
as his
body
was
never
found
.
Koven
and
Carpe
are
considered
the
first
fatalities
on
Mount
McKinley
.
