Title from caption .Caption reads : "Mukpie - Point Barrow Eskimo Girl . Youngest person aboard , and one of the survivors of the S.S . "Karluk. " Canadian-Arctic (Stefansson) Expedition. " A young girl stands outside , wearing a fur parka , mukluks , and mittens . According to The Geographical Journal (v . 51 no . 5 , May 1918) , the S.S . "Karluk " was part of the Canadian-Arctic Expedition of 1913 , crashed and sank on January 10 , 1914 .
