"Thompson with oar , Larson rowing , Norwood taking it easy . A memorable trip , in a small boat , following the ice breakup on the Yukon River . Lake LaBarge was still frozen we pulled the boat on a crude sled over the ice . We were commanded by the Mounties at Whitehorse , Y . T . to report at several points along the river . To not do so , we would be arrested at Dawson and be incarcerated for 30 days so to ignore their rule would nullify our early run of the river . They said they wanted to know where we were lost!! "
