Description	Most of the collection consists of photographs of person, mountains, equipment, and aircraft used in the expedition to recover bodies from the C-A1 of the ATC which crashed in the Mount McKinley region, circa 1944. The following is the text on pages 1 and 2 of the album: "High country. A pictorial record of the U.S. Army Air Corps Expedition to the Mt. McKinley region of Alaska. 1944." The purpose of this book is to show the effort made by members of the expedition to recover nineteen bodies from the ill-fated C-47 of the ATC which left Elmendorf Field for Fairbanks on a routine flight. The plane crashed into an unnamed 11,400-foot mountain in the Alaska range.

Description	Title from finding aid : "Behind the scene of camp six which is deen [seen] in the the immediate foreground, the wreckage of the c-47 was found. Behind the plane rose a 1500 foot ice wall on the tip of which the plane had crashed, leaving its motor and plunging downward to where it now rested. It was down this ice wall the party made its descent." Photograph shows snow and ice covered side of Mount Deception with camp 6 in foreground, main crash site just above the camp site, ice wall and then the location marked near top of photo of where the engine was located.
